Charlie and Jake had the summer of their lives together at camp before losing touch. Twelve years later; newly divorced single mom Charlie is back in the States to start over. Her best friend drags her to a hockey game, where she is surprised to see Jake out on the ice. Through a texts, awkward moments, and grandma's brownie recipe, the two reconnect. Jake realizes he's been in love with Charlie since their summer at camp, but getting to reconnect with her, and now her two kids, has him ready to be the man they need. Her ex doesn't see it that way, and Jake and Charlie have to figure out their relationship amidst stress and chaos.
Where do I start? Summer camp meet cute turned second chance single parent ride or die romance; this one has it all. Charlie is, of course, a baddie mom and career woman, breaking herself out of the box her ex put her in while trying to protect her kids. Jake, after seeing Charlie at his game, realizes there's more to life than hockey and dives headfirst into the family man role he was born to fill. Charlie's kids are the perfect element of innocent youth and give our MCs a reality check periodically. I loved the balance between whirlwind romance and parenthood. Plus, there's some fantastic spice on these pages, and Jake's no stranger to sinking goal after goal 😏

📢 HOCKEY ROMANCE LOVERS - This is for you!
📖 Seal the Deal by @haileyrodger.writes
Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Can I just take a second to gush about this book? 🥰🤯 That 5 stars was no mistake! Hailey Rodger, you killed it!!
The hockey player - yum! Jake is the epitome of golden retriever and everything you want in a book boyfriend! Single Mom - I love a good story about a single parent, and Charlie is the best mom! 👌 Also, could we write in cuter kids? Because I don't think so! Noah and Meadow! 😘😘😘 Especially Meadow 🥹🤗.
Let's talk a little bit more about our main adult characters - Jake and Charlie met at a camp one summer. They were both camp counselors. To say they hit it off would be an understatement. They keep it friendly regardless of other feelings, and when summer ends, they go off into the world. 12 years later... yes, 12, they end up in the same town again. This time grown-up and kids to worry about - at least for Charlie.
I can't say too much more. This book is easy devour and easier to fall in love with! ❤️

Summer Camp Love reconnects years later for True Love = Instant Swoon!
"He smiles at me. A slow, familiar grin that makes my heart ache with memories. ... My breath catches in my throat, and I force myself to look away as all the feelings I buried years ago come rushing back."
Overall: 4.5⭐
Plot: 5📍
Spice: 3🔥
Who didn't have that one summer crush? Camp crush? The one who entered your life for a few weeks, maybe a few months, and then they were gone forever? The one, even if you're blissfully happy now, you still wonder about?
Get ready to imagine the what if!
Loved Jake's steadfast loyalty and love for his girl, Charlie's combination of strength and vulnerability as she overcomes a horrifically, verbally & emotionally ab-üsive/manipulative ex. Charlie's growth throughout the story is refreshingly honest however, I had to take .5 overall because her incessant verbatim excuses were highly repetitive as were Jake's constant "I'm all in." I understand the need for the insistence and reassurance after Charlie's ex, but I wouldn't have minded a little vocabulary change up now and then.
And I LOVED how the timeline goes back and forth between camp over a decade prior ties in with present day events. A couple of times I felt it broke the story's flow just a bit, but save for those few moments, they added incredible depth and context!
The kids, are written in perfectly - a big part of the story but not so overwhelming-so that readers who prefer stories without the single parent trope will feel bogged down with them. Noah and Meadow are sweet, realistic, and lovable!
Cried happy tears at the end and still get that warm-gooey happy feeling in my chest now as I finally have time to sit down at write out my review!
Absolutely loved this and am beyond looking forward to Book 2!!!
SoOOo excited for Jake's teammate to fight for the girl he's clearly head over heels for - no, I'm not hinting names! Because the build up on this book is 100% worth it! Their tension is already SKY HIGH and I'm 👏🏻 here 👏🏻for 👏🏻it!
A MASSIVE thank you to Ms. Rodgers and Luna Literacy for the opportunity to read and review this amazing book!
All opinions are my own.
A single mom romance that is also a second chance romance that is also a sports romance that is also an “it was always you” romance?!?!?
This book took all my favorite tropes, threw them in a pan and made the most delicious swoon worthy romance I can imagine! As a single parent all you want is to find someone you and your kids both love who loves both of you back. You want someone who will understand their needs are priority and make them feel special. That was Jake.
He was not ashamed to love Charlie and her kids loudly and it was wonderful to watch after knowing how badly her ex was to them.

Forcing myself to be Sabrina Carpenter in order to keep this short and sweet!
We loved:
- Second chance romance (fate brought us together)
- An MMC that wears his heart on his sleeve
- Acts of service gentleman (in the streets and the sheets) 🤌🏻
- Cutesy vibes: the found family he never had, domestic bliss, inner child healing (we Stan)
- Clear communication between the MCs
- Some fab open-door spice
Not my cup of tea but maybe yours:
- man swooping in to save the day
- flashbacks to younger selves in many chapters (I am more of a prologue gal myself)
- Cutesy vibes resulted in not enough tension for me. I think because this is "second chance", both characters know the vibe and know the energy, so we weren't left wondering when they get together.

Absolutely loved this book!
Charlotte and Jakes characters are so well written, the tension, the spice. Perfect!
I absolutely loved reading about how they both grew, separately and together.
The way Jake cares for Charlie and her kids, adorable and so so fun to read about. The attention he pays to them all is amazing
Also, Characters in their 30s? Yes please! Absolutely need more books like this
Definitely excited to read future books that Hailey Rodger puts out! 💙

"Every small thing he’s done in the past few hours stitches a part of me back together. I have someone here, someone who steps in when things go sideways. I’m not alone."
This book was the absolute sweetest way to drop a debut novel and open up this series. Hailey Rodger really stole my heart with this book! Between the relationship these two share when they were younger to the "You're might now and I'm never letting you go again". It was all so sweet!
"Twelve years, Lady Lightning. That's 4,514 sunsets since the last one we had on that hill. Countless games… A lifetime of moments without you."
Jake is top notch book boyfriend material. Even from the first chapter, I was completely swooning over this man and the way he noticed Charlie and how special she was! Fast forward 12 years and this man still has it soooo bad for her. Regretting his decision to ever let her go. And boy does he make his intentions apparent this time around! Not only for her but her two sweet kids! Even though Charlie's life now came with many more hurdles she was facing he was determined to make sure she knew she was no longer alone in anything she ever did. It didn't matter if he was miles away or in the same city he was next to her fight her battles with her. And my gosh, did Charlie deserve that! Especially after being let down as many times as she was in the years previously! And after packing up and moving her kids to another country to give them the life they deserve. She was such a strong FMC. But I loved that she had Jake to lean on and count on!
“I’m gonna worship you every day for the rest of my life.”
This book was beautifully done. And I can't wait to see where Hailey takes this series.

It was sweet. Almost too sweet. There was no drama. I mean there was very minimal drama. If you find your connection while young and then come back to each other 11 years later ... there should be something. It was too smooth of a transition.
I am a sucker for hockey romances though and this was one of them. Jake made it in hockey. Charlie is a strong single mom. These two work very well together.
If you like romance with your hockey, this is it.
