I enjoyed it enough. However i did feel like the characters were annoying. Mainly Ruth. How she calls teddy selfish but wants him to quit his dream to stay with her in a shitty job she knows is toxic and she doesn’t even really want but she’s just so stuck in that bubble that she wants to drag him down with her. Idk. He was annoying too. But to a way lesser extent. My favorite part was definitely Renata, so I’m sad they killed her off in the end for literally no reason.

I did love this book! Ruthie and Teddy were just what each other needed at the right time, and the cast of side characters were fantastic. I even loved the love of the turtles!

We all feel stuck like Ruthie sometimes, so it’s great when someone comes along to stir things up like Teddy did for her. I appreciate that even though he’s right for her, she’s independent enough to make her changes on her own.

Great book by a solid writer!

I can’t accept that this book was written by the same author who wrote The Hating Game. This book was so, so bad. It barely made sense most of the time, it touched on so many aspects of Ruthies life without flushing anything out enough like her parents or her OCD. Ruthie herself was one of the most bland and boring characters I’ve ever read. There was nothing there, she was so G rated it bothered me. The weird quips, her obsession with Teddy but unwillingness to acknowledge anything, but flirting with him all the time? Nothing made sense. The meeting elderly people were horrible, not funny at all. Mel was okay. Teddy I liked at the beginning but he was so desperate and weird, always pushing himself into Ruthie. Neither of them matched how they were supposed to be. She’s supposed to be this beautiful woman but he confuses her for an old lady? She literally has no life, no ambition, she’s no naive and stuck and ugh I just cringed through everything about her life from her parents to her routine to her appearance it drove me crazy. Teddy was so childish and oblivious. This was such a miss I skimmed through most of it, it was a chore to finish.

This was so fluffy and adorable while also dealing with some more difficult topics. I genuinely loved all the characters & laughed out loud multiple times. It was really funny & heartwarming. I loooved Ruthie & Teddy.

Only con was the writing style took me some time to get used to. It felt a bit like I was dropped in the middle of the story & expected to understand all the relationships & inside jokes. But once I got over that I appreciated those things.

Also.. Teddy. For most of the book I couldn’t figure out who he reminded me of. But then I got it: Teddy from Little Women! I’m sure the fact that it was the same name helped, but they do have a lot of similarities.

Anyway, great read. I’ll probably reread it at some point too.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely love The Hating Game and have tried to read 99% Mine but could not get into it. Therefore, I was a little scared to dive into Second First Impressions, but I was happily surprised. I definitely enjoyed the book but it’s not Thrones best book.

I really enjoyed Teddy and Ruthie as characters and I loved there romance but I wish it was a bit more steamy, like the hating game. But, it was not.

I enjoyed Mel and I figured out the plot twist with the “sisters” very early on.

I believe the ending was to rushed and a little messy but I overall enjoyed.

I recommend if you love this author and are looking for a tamer romance!!

This book was more than I expected it to be! I loved the setting of the retirement community and found Ruthie a lovably adorable FMC. The way she feels rooted to her job, but also unsure of how to move forward and find the romantic connection she seeks is… relatable.

Teddy really grew on me and the connection between him and Ruthie was so fun to listen to. The forced proximity, slow-burn, and found family tropes were *chef’s kiss.* The side characters really enhanced the story and they made such a cute little unit together.

I struggle to recall a book where both main characters grow so much as individuals as they open up to each other. Ruthie’s self-doubt and sometimes crippling need for structure and routine due to her strict parents and the theft blamed on her “carelessness” ‘makes for a true ‘opposites attract’ situation with Teddy’s (sometimes) aggressively chaotic free-spirit. I loved how Sally Thorne built them into being such a good match; Ruthie needs to give herself space and grace to be flexible and grow while Teddy needs to form the meaningful connections and roots he has been fleeing from as a result of the attachment issues from his traumatic childhood.

The turtles are also such a cute little part of the story. 🐢🐢
