This story was my first real hit with Butler! I was captivated by the world and wanted to know & understand more. I thought this was an interesting take on vampirism and I was always eager to find where the story went, but the one element that I can’t get past...I hated the trope of our protagonist being a 53 year old vampire but in the body of/appearing to be a 10 year old girl. I can’t express enough how much the sex scenes made my skin crawl, or how people being instantly attracted to her even though she physically looked like a child made my stomach turn. It was really hard to get past.
