This is a fun read! It is full of suspense, surprising twists, and drama. Fans of the tv show can still appreciate the graphic novel since the story differs from the television show. I would recommend this books for those who are interested in the zombie genre.

I’m rereading this series, this time a physical copy from the library. I love me some zombies.

It's been a few years since I read this, so it was good to get a refresher course on the zombies while I'm watching watching the current season of The Walking Dead. Obviously it's a great comic and an amazing show. I don't mind that there are a lot of changes from the original comic, it's coming into it's own. It's gritty, terrifying, and horribly insightful to human nature. The black and white illustrations really show how bleak the situation is (amazing art by the way). A must read for zombie fans and fans of the AMC show.

1st comic book series I have ever read. Interesting choices in the way they differentiate from the show. Looking forward to more and finishing someday...

I am going about this backwards and it is still rewarding. I watched the series first and came to the comics second and the story is still enthralling.

I was a little disappointed by this book. A few friends of mine who liked Y the Last Man and Sandman recommended it to me, but I was unimpressed. In the afterword, Kirkman described it as a "never-ending zombie movie" containing everything he had ever wanted to happen in one.

While this was an admirable goal, the outcome is an unnecessarily drawn out zombie comic with few original ideas. The series pretty much starts out exactly the same as 28 Days Later and continues to run through every zombie movie plotline in the book. Loved ones affected by the disease, friends going crazy, banding together with strangers, doubting the government, etc. It's all been done before in a different medium and the graphic novel does little to make it feel fresh or new.

The dialogue is redundant; these people take forever to say what they want to say for post-apocalypse survivors on the brink of death. While I respect the choice for somewhat simple, black and white art, some of the drawings are questionable. Rick, the main character, looks like a different person in every panel. Some of the facial proportions are odd. The "children" that are drawn in the book have such mature looking faces that they look more like little people.

I can say that this book did lead me to believe that there may be some redeeming plotlines and intrigue in future volumes, but I'm more likely to pick up another graphic novel on my shelf for future comic fixes.

My comic book loving friend made me read this series. Although the story is interesting, I just couldn't get sucked in like he wanted me too.

If anything, this is even darker than the TV series. Bonus: there's an extra story at the end involving Morgan and Duane (the first people Rick meets when he leaves the hospital in the beginning), and it's a heartbreaker, without a single zombie appearance.
