It is the second time I read this book. Back when I read it 10 years ago, could not appreciate the book enough. (Wonder what I was thinking!!)

The book is well written and gives an insight into the way the society was in small towns in the 30's. Moreover, what I loved about the book was, even though it is a simple story it has some dialogues that have a deeper meaning. Such statements make one pause for a minute and consider how it applies to one's own philosophies and thoughts.

The story gives a view of how life is; it is unfair. There are always people with prejudices or looking out for what they want. It is not easy to judge, but if one can try to stand in the shoes of another, one can make a better assessment.

Most of the times, it is more of what is easy than what is right.

It was a slow beginning, and the liberal use of the N-word was so uncomfortable. Otherwise, it is a solid story that I enjoyed.

I’m glad I finally read To Kill a Mockingbird. It was extremely well-written and I enjoyed it immensely. It definitely made me think because its message is so profound. I’m not sure why I waited so long to read it.

I don't know what I could possibly say about this book that thousands of people haven't already said. I just finished reading this book for the first time, as I never read it in high school, and I could immediately tell why it's considered a classic. It tackles so many issues, through the amazing eyes of a child and allows the reader to understand the issues as she does.
One thing that jumped out at me constantly throughout the book was the phrase, "that's just their way." It was used to explain all types of behavior in all types of people. It justified the Ewell's behavior, it explained Atticus' politeness, and was the reason that Boo Radley never left his house. I thought that the phrase brought to light several points because it was used to explain behavior that was a bit odd or different, but also sometimes to justify bad behavior. And it stood as a contrast when certain people weren't afforded the luxury of their behavior being justified in this way.
Anything that I have written here cannot possibly do justice to such a classic novel. Simply, I would like to say that it is incredibly good and everyone should read it.
