Super cute!
This was a really cute, short listen. On the lower end of middle-grade. I liked the science and overall lesson about moving on and not letting fear hold one back.
What an interesting premise for a book. The girl’s grandfather turns himself into a boy her age as a result of a science experiment and they have to work together to get the critical ingredients for youth out of his office before they close it down. Classic scientists and facts about them are woven throughout for added educational value. Enjoyable quick read. Would recommend.
I liked the 17 Again vibe of this, but I've liked Holm's other stuff a lot better.
This book might be a little too mature for some of my 4th graders, but I think the story might be a good read a loud, something we can talk about.
Interesting premise, but a lot of the details were unrealistic, odd, or not flushed out.
As someone currently rehearsing for a production of Our Town, the inclusion of the play was appreciated.

This was a delightful, warm-hearted middle-grade novel that I think boys and girls alike would enjoy. Ellie is beginning the sixth grade in the midst of friendship turmoil, when suddenly her mother brings home a shaggy-haired 13 year-old boy who acts and looks suspiciously familiar. Turns out it's her grandfather, a cantankerous scientist who's discovered the fountain of youth in a small obscure jellyfish. Adventures ensue. This book offers a lot of wisdom about families, the cycle of life and death, and how cool science can be - but in an entertaining, not didactic way.
A fun story with a pretty heavy undertone. I liked Ellie and the way the story put her friend troubles up against the dilemma of the fountain of youth. The ending really struck me, and I could see older elementary/ young middle school students enjoying it.
11-year-old Ellie has never quite felt like she fits in with her artist actor parents, but when a strange boy who happens to be her grandfather, who's discovered the fountain of youth, comes to live with them, Ellie discovers a fascinating world of science. Fun, with some substance.
