Whoa. I really need to read the second book about this guy to see if the story continues. Had to read the end 2 times to see if I was reading it right!
Not sure what to make of this book. He is one of my favorite authors and his stand alone novels are fast paced and nailbiters. His series featuring Myron is set in the sports world but evolve way past that world.
So I was excited to see him start a young adult series featuring Myron's nephew. Mickey has been a nomad following his parents around the world doing humanitarian work. Sadly his father is killed and his mother is in rehab for an overdose.
So Myron moves Mickey back to the family house in New Jersey and enrolls him in high School.Everything is going good until his crush disappears, the bullies of the school target him and his Uncle keeps him in the dark.
The story falls apart because many of the storylines don't connect to each other or the actions of the characters are disjointed.
I went into this book with high hopes but quickly started comparing to John Grisham Young adult series Theodore Boone which tells a better story with more believable characters
At some point I will try book 2 to see if this was just world building and character development plot or it is just lackluster since I know how good he can write

not rating bc duh. definitely not as good as i remember from 5th grade... but i digress. reread bc of the prime series (also not rlly worth a watch but there exists no greater motivation than nostalgia and decent casting). anyway. i don't recommend in the slightest but it brought me quite a bit of momentary entertainment. spoon u will always be dear to me <3
Figured I might read the Mickey series while the Myron series is still fresh in my mind. I really wish I had read this book and I'm assuming the next 2 before reading the last book in the Myron series. I think things would have made more sense and the story would have been more cohesive. Oh well, it's still an interesting story and I'm looking forward to part 2.
It didn't blow me away or anything, but it was good. I plan on reading at least the second book.
This book was great for its genre. Lots of adventure and mystery. There is a good mix of empathy and individualism as well. I think boys will really get into the series, however I'm not sure I will read more of the series or not.

L'intrigue m'a tout de suite embarquée. Chaque chapitre comprenait son lot de suspense et d'action. J'ai hâte de lire la suite.
I was very excited to hear that my favorite author was branching out to YA mystery novels. That meant two books in 1 year! Yay! :)
I have had this book for a while now, but have been so busy with work that I haven't been reading as much as I would like. However, I joined a Teachers As Readers book club at my school this year. When they asked for book suggestions I quickly suggested this title. I am always eager to encourage my friends, my family & anyone who will listen to read Harlan Coben's novels. I was thrilled when it was selected for our first book.
I have read almost all of Mr. Coben's novels (I need to get my hands on Seconds Away ASAP; in the meantime I'm going to start Stay Close this afternoon & hopefully finish Miracle Cure over the holiday, too). There are some I love, some I really like, and some that were disappointing. Not because of the quality or style of writing, but because of the plot; how the characters wound up at the end. Anyway, I really liked "Live Wire," when we find out about Myron's brother and meet Mickey. As I said, I was excited to find out Mickey would have his own adventures.
I was not disappointed by this book. It featured all of Mr. Coben's signatures: dry wit, action, suspense and twists. While this is "written for" young adults, it is certainly not solely for teenagers. It's a great read. While I was correct about some suspicions, others were way off; something I love about great mysteries.
