After reading Devourer of Men, I knew I had to read Devour the Dark. Let me just say, it did not disappoint! While I really liked both books, I like Devour the Dark so much more. The plot was so much better and more in depth.
I absolutely love that the original group from the Never King series made an appearance. Even though some of them were only in one spot or mentioned in passing, it was great to have them back for a moment. I also loved that we got more Vane and Crocodile time. We get a better understanding of their relationship. Lastly, I absolutely loved that Wendy got to meet Winnie. It’s something that never would or could have happened in the human/real world so really cool that it did.
All in all, I really liked this book. I wish there was another book really focusing on Crocodile, Hook, and Wendy. I’d love to see more about of their crazy and bizarre relationship. I did find out there is a book coming out in August of 2025, about Crocodile and Vane that I’m super excited for. Guess we will see what lead to them being what they are.

I really enjoy this series but its not wowing me like the never king was. The whole reveal on who vane and croc are did leave me shocked. I had no idea and I love how its starting to tie into other fairytale elements. I do enjoy the throuple scenes and how sex positive this series is.

This was.... entertaining enough. But the characters felt off to me. Especially Vane & Winnie. I devoured the Vicious Lost Boys series. I was so obsessed with them. This spin off definitely isn't hitting as hard for me. I'm not as attached to everyone in this.
Hook is a little whiny, Wendy & Asha are cool, and my favorite thing about Roc was that he was dark and mysterious and broody, and I felt like that was lacking in this book.
And DONT GET ME STARTED with the Alice in Wonderland crossover. It took me far too long to connect those dots and realize their uncle is the mad hatter. I'm definitely in way too deep to just stop reading now, but I'm a little wary to get into the rest of the series 😭

Firstly, I adore that we had so many POVs in this story, and was especially excited to get bonus time with Vane's thoughts.
I guess I have to brush up on my literary classics because while I did correctly guess where Vane and Roc are from, I didn't have a clue as to what they were and was so surprised!
The resolution/growth for Wendy, James and Roc was very satisfying and I'm proud of where they ended up.
I'd love to have more of Asha's stories and am super interested in Vane and Roc's prequel!
