It starts to pick up again here...this one moves along at a quick pace (for a Dune book). It's mostly dialogue, with just a few action sequences. Can't wait to read Heretics of Dune...though I can't imagine that the series gets any better.

The best dune book so far! I absolutely loved this one. It’s so weird and thought provoking. It’s driving me to want to uncover the rest of the mysteries in the dune universe.

Honestly, was just a fun experiment of reading a book that was written based on Leto II. In my opinion much more interesting than other popular books that incorporate elements of philosophy (I’m looking at you Zen).

Fascinating at times. Meandering otherwise. I guess I’ll keep reading when I get around to it, but definitely not as thrilling as its predecessors.

4.75 stars rounding up to 5 for GoodReads. This one was super interesting and once again focused heavily on themes rather than plot or character. There is a lot more dialogue in this one than in the earlier installments which Brian Herbert points out in his introduction of my edition. It is obvious that this is the case almost from the first chapter alone which was very interesting. The themes of an all-seeing/all-knowing God was very interesting to explore in this expanded Dune world 3500 years in the future. The ending was also expected but still enrapturing. The inclusion of the journal passages in the beginning of each chapter was also very Dune and put me right back into the universe. I am very interested to see where the story goes after this because I don't actually know much of these last two books written by Frank Herbert. I had some pacing issues with this one at times but still very much enjoyed what was explored.
