Michael Morpurgo's wonderful writing paired with beautiful painted illustrations by Francois Place.
I quite liked this short shory. I like to read Morpurgo's shorter books in between because he is one of my favourite authors.
In Meeting Cezanne, Yannick is sent to stay with his Aunt Mathilda and Uncle Bruno and his cousin, Amandine in Provence, in the south of France. His mother told him that Cezanne, the most famous painter in the world, loves it there.
Yannick helps his Aunt, Uncle and Amandine in their inn.

What I liked:
The watercoloured pictures go so well with the story. There is a lot of blue and green thoughout the book.
Amandine is a pretty name, that I quite like, belonging to Yannick's 14 yr old cousin.
The ending satisfied me!
The setting in France

What I did not like:
Nothing! There was nothing I did not like!

I recommend this book for ages 8+.

A cute quick read in typical Morpurgo style.

Hard to categorize. Paintings made me smile when my eyes would encounter the striking color and line. Who is it for? Michael Morpurgo's work is some of my favorite, but it is tough to know for whom he's writing at times.
