I had to read this for book club, so this wasn't my choice. I hated this. I hated the plot. The point of view. The characters. Everything. I would rate this a -1000000000. It was that bad. I mean it was so bad that I skimmed through the last 200 pages. And the worst part is, it's a trilogy. Not that I'd read it but it's a dang trilogy. Like there's more! This book was so cliché, like obviously McGill is related to Mary and Mary is evil. Leif is so high throughout the end of the book and Allie is just annoying and too independent. Oh yeah and apparently Nick is the "chocolate Ogre." What the heck? I mean I don't know what else to say other than never read this.
Нет, определенно хорошая. Мне еще нравится, что это в какой-то мере наш ответ Страубу: а вот не хотите ли с точки зрения привидений взглянуть? Правда, тут привидения не такие опасные, максимум скайджекнут, но убивать не убивают.
This book has the same meaning as the word "average" in my taste. Like the worldbuilding and characters but I just liked it... I mean It didn't give me any Wow! effect or the feeling of couldn't put down the book etc. But I love the writing style and I think the narrator (Nick Podehl) made a great job and it's a good thing because I'm dying to try out Neal Schusterman's another series; Arc of a Scythe but didn't wanna commit it without knowing what to expect at least about writing style!
This story was fascinating and the world beautifully depicted. Everlost was frightening and captivating. A place for children lost in between life and death, Everlost was full of mystery.
One of the things I found most intriguing about this novel was the fact that not only people, but places and objects could cross into Everlost. It was extremely interesting.
The characters were excellent. Nick was the one that grew on me the most as the story progressed. Allie was smart, but annoying. Mary was creepy, but interesting. Everything just fit together so well.

Enjoyable and creative. Neal Shusterman shines in creating worlds unlike any other. I was excited to read this series as soon as I finished the Unwind dystology, and while disappointed is a strong word, it definitely lacks the beauty of Unwind. The overwhelming reason this novel didn't pull me in the way Unwind did was because of the reading level. It definitely felt aimed toward pre-teens, and it lacked the deeper literary elements I know Shusterman is capable of.
I also was not able to fall in love with any of the characters in the book. I didn't feel like unconditionally rooting for any of them. Shusterman has a way of making me deeply care for the characters he creates despite their flaws (Hello Hayden Upchurch and Connor Lassiter), but none of the souls stuck in Everlost had me wanting them to win without a doubt.
Overall, I'd say the book was enjoyable but mediocre. The setting and storyline were interesting enough to keep me reading, but characters, motivations, and twists were very subpar. If this was anyone's first Shusterman novel, I am screaming for you to hop to [b:Unwind|764347|Unwind (Unwind, #1)|Neal Shusterman|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1297677706s/764347.jpg|750423].
(I still love u though Neal)

hits just as hard as it did when I was 14 thank you. Allie the Outcast will always hold a special place in my heart
How can a book be so exciting at first, then drag on so hard at the end? The premise of people dying and their souls residing in Everlost, kind of like purgatory, seemed interesting to me. But, I didn't enjoy Shusterman's villains and how we worked around them. The novel was atmospheric with a solid magic system. I did like a few of the characters, but I mostly found them annoying—Allie and Lief were great.
I think I hyped this book up too much in comparison to Scythe. Shusterman's writing style has vastly improved for my reading style between these two novels.
Overall, I wanted ore than it offered and I found the pacing erratic.

Wow. This book was a lot better than I was expecting. The whole world really drew me in, as it was described in such vivid detail and the complex plot.
The characters were realistic enough, and I liked how there didn't appear to be a clasic 'baddie' like there is in most books. It was also a refreshing change to have so little romance.
My favourite bit was the end - it all settled out well, and I especially loved the epilouge.
Recommend!!!

This book was not horrible and I really wanted to like it...but I just didn't. Characters and their relationships had no depth and I found it very difficult to imagine the main characters as teenagers because they acted so young. The premise of the book was great...the delivery just didn't do it for me.
