Both very complex and extremely simple. It's an interesting tale of a type of purgatory populated by Lost Boys and Lord of Flies style children -- and our flawed, but basically good, protagonists. There is a definite ending point to the book, but it mostly sets up a much more epic story for our protagonists to embark into.

OH MY FUCKING GOD ONE OF THE BEST FUCKING BOOKS I’VE EVER READ. ONE OF THE PLOT TWISTS I FIGURED OUT A PARAGRAPH BEFORE IT ACTUALLY TOLD YOU AND I CLOSED IT AND SAT JAW TO THE FLOOR IN SHOCK FOR LIKE TWO MINUTES. Oh my god I just cannot begin to explain how much I loved this book, how much I would kill to read the next two books in the series.  How it all ties together and you end up hating one of the main characters by the end and admiring the enemy? HOLY SHIT? Like and finally discovering the real meaning of Everlost; it became a lot loss eerie and more.. meaningful. Nick seemed like an unimportant character in the beginning but WOW did he become one of the most important characters by the end of the story. And it basically flip flopped with Allie. The whole premise of this book was about a quest but it was SO MUCH BIGGER THAN THAT. AND I LOVED IT SO MUCH !!! I cannot fucking wait to get my hands on the next books. Easily my favorite book now.

The premise was interesting, but the characters weren't.

I have been meaning to read this book since 6th grade. For perspective, I graduated high school two weeks ago.

It was good. I liked Allie the best. However, I feel like it could have used a bit more editing--I noticed quite a few simple punctuation errors that could have been avoided.

This book was a real big OOF. I love Neal Shusterman, but this puppy had so many instances of casual (and overt) racism against Asian people. I also didn't like the plot or the characters. We shall move on!

My favorite book series of all time. That's why I'm not gonna review it

The first novel in the Skinjacker trilogy. Allie and Nick live two separate lives, but when a fateful car crash occurs it brings them together in this place called Everlost. They aren’t alive, but they aren’t completely dead, just sprits. Together the two of them try to find their way around, through the good and the bad, they face every obstacle only for the story to come full circle. Now readers have to wait until the next book to find out more. The story was introspective about what happens once you die. The novel was told with great story telling using good and evil, as well as monsters it’s sure to catch readers’ attentions. It was something different to read that makes it readable. Overall it is a captivating story.

I was a tiny bit disappointed, simply because I read Unwind before this and it was SO GOOD. I think this is probably targeted more towards readers aged 9-12, whereas Unwind was for older readers, so it's my fault for not paying attention. Still a pretty good read and a fairly fresh spin on the afterlife (between-life?).
