I admit it, I picked up this series after that whole controversy about inventively shaped items in a fandom package for the series. I'm glad that I did.
Sure, our main character is a tiny bit like the cookie cutter fantasy female hero, but she's far from boring. I like that she has many facets to her person that all seem to conflict. The only thing that I don't like about her is that she does tend to get mad too easily. It bothers me because it bothered me when I was like that. I've done myself a favor and calmed down. I hope she does.
I feel kindof odd about the romance plot. I approve of her eventual choice, Anyway, the book was nice. I'm reading the next one already.

but it doesn't seem like she chose the one who she feels the most for. Don't get me wrong, Chaol is the right choice logically and as a good partner in the long run, but he isn't the one she was narrating feeling a ton for throughout the book. I honestly expected her to dawdle and take her time figuring that out over several books.

I enjoyed this! As with any fantasy series, the first book for me is just hard learning all these characters names & places. I think I’ll enjoy it even more as I get farther into the series. In true Sarah J Maas fashion, the last 100 pages were so action packed & I couldn’t put it down!
I’m slowly understanding the hype over this series & I’m only just getting started. Celaena is that girl 100%!!
