Wasn't really into the  romance.  I thought it would be subtle, but its kinda graphic in some parts.  Also the plot is pretty basic and predictable.  I already knew what was going to happen within the first 2ish chapters and didn't really want to stick around to see if I was right.

Definitely enough to peak interest, but the plot itself is a little too convenient, I know it’s fantasy but some parts just feel so unrealistic.
Omg your punishment is to live with sexy fae in a beautiful mansion where it is always springtime 🙄

Fun world and the series does get a lot better.

After a re-read

Wow my first impression of this book is wild. I originally gave it 3.75 but I decided to bump it up to 4.

The main character is likeable and there is interesting world building without feeling like youre slogging through world building. The characters are all pretty unique and personalities come through very clearly.

The plot is still pretty convenient, and there are still some super weird moments (
looking at YOU weird sex Great Rite which apparently every high lord participates in but we never hear about again??
).

But overall a really good introduction to the FMC and the world. Super wants me wanting more.

Also
after the re-read, Tamlin is straight up just lustful for Feyre. Its so obvious, he’d rather fuck thank ask her how she is doing and check in on her

I listened to the dramatized audiobook on Spotify. The way the story built up to the end was amazing, I was on the edge of my seat! I loved everything that happened and the ethereal imagery painted by the author.

*Side note: I knew the answer to Amarantha's riddle as soon as she said it, which either means I'm an intellectual and my English classes have paid off, or it was really obvious. But this is a petty comment, I found the book to be very creative and well-written otherwise.

This book had me feeling all the emotions. From sadness, to anger, to more sadness and to hopefulness, I didn’t want this book to end but at the same time, I needed to know what happened. I understand the hype. This was my first adult fantasy book and it did not disappoint!!

Okay look, I really struggled through the first 45% of this book bc it was so boring and Feyre was so annoying and dumb. Like, I wanted to bang my head against a wall for how boring and slow moving the first almost half of this book was. Like, let's be real, it didn't get interesting until Rhys showed up. All the action is packed into the last half of the book, so much so that the book could have easily been like 50 pages shorter and done the same thing.
A lot of stuff just doesn't make sense with Feyre as a character: why does she not feel any anger towards her family for treating her poorly and not appreciating her? Why does she only use her survival instincts and hunting knowledge occasionally? Why does she act like she's being held captive when they were nothing but nice to her???
But the story definitely got better in the second half, and was saved by Lucien and Rhys. I'm only giving it more than 3 ⭐ bc of those two.
Definitely a bit cheesy at times, you can definitely see the Beauty and the Beast retelling throughout, but I think it was done fairly well overall (again, if the beginning was shorter and Feyre plugged in her brain, it would have gotten like 4.5 stars)

I get the hype now, though. Im excited to see where this series goes.
