A really cool story idea. I loved the world building and the fae lore was so cool! However the main character is another blank slate "gutsy" dystopian girl and there was an overwhelming amount of sex. Like a really uncomfortable amount. Saaaaad, I would have loved this book of not for that.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas.  (This is going to be a very unpopular rating).  2 out of 5 stars.  I purchased the physical book from Amazon in 2021.

Why 2 stars?  It was professionally edited and had no typos that I could see.  I did finish it.

Why only 2 stars?  I started out reading this book with high hopes because it has been so hyped up.  If I had not paid money for this book, I would not have finished it.  I could not like the characters.  They had no redeeming qualities and their interactions with each other were just…lacking.  Every relationship (romantic or otherwise) was TOXIC.  Some more so than others.  ***Vague Spoilers*** The storyline had the potential to be really good.  If she was going to have 5 books in the series anyway, why not have the second half (after she came back to him) be its own book.  I got to that part and kind of deflated my hopes.  Also, I am not a fan of conflict ridden love triangles, so the love square was too much.

Some readers may really enjoy this book.  I did not.  I would caution young readers to wait on this book because of the adult themes within.

I think my rating would’ve been higher if there was more spice but I love the world building and would definitely recommend to those wanting to get into fantasy

When I started this book I was in such a horrible reading slump for about 2 months and a half. I finished this and I felt like I was cured from this curse and I feel myself again going from book to book and enjoying them.

I’ve miss reading a GOOD book, a fantasy book that made me forget about everything else and I didn’t want to put down. This is definitely a 4 ⭐ for my taste.

This series has been on my TBR since 2018 and it’s so famous that of course I already know a couple of things that will happen but it didn’t bother me at all, I still enjoyed it a lot.

I was deciding between the normal audiobook or the graphic one, but at the end I chose the one read by just one narrator because I thought it was a better choice as a first time reader of this series and I’m glad I did. I liked her voice.

One funny thing and maybe the most surprising to me is how their names are pronounced. I thought Feyre was read like “faerie” but it’s “Fair-ah” and I thought Rhysand was like “rice-and” but it’s “Riz-sand” lol at least all the other names are pronounced the same way they’re written.

I know everyone hates Tamlin by the end of the trilogy, but at least for this book I allowed myself to like him since he hasn’t done anything wrong yet and I do like him.

Feyre’s sisters were a piece of work in the beginning, but I’m really intrigued to see how their relationship will develop, I hope it improves and they become closer.

I was suspicious of everything and everyone all the time because WHO gives you such comforts after you just killed their friend? But then SJM dropped all the information in one chapter and I got it. But it did make me nervous how Feyre would be suspicious for 5 seconds and then forget about it, but poor girl was just getting out of survival mode and breaking down her walls with all the comfort so I can’t blame her that much.

I can actually understand Amarantha’s hatred for humans (justified ngl), but it’s funny to me how she treats faeries and specially the Spring Court and Tamlin that way just because he would not f*ck her 💀 so she has Rhysand literally known as his wh*re lmao

Once again, the tiny little female human saving the world, what I did not expect was for her to
actually DIE and then have the 7 High Lords bringing her back to life as a High Fae!? like that was crazy.
But my girl deserved it after everything she did for these people.

I enjoyed ACOTAR but didn't feel it lived up to all the hype. I found Feyre to be a difficult character to like and honestly cared more about Lucien than anyone else.

This was a quick read with a fun plot. I have read the whole series at this point, and really feel like this could’ve been a standalone, aka you don’t HAVE to read anymore than just this one book to feel fulfilled with a good story.

This version of the audiobook is PHENOMENAL. After listening to it, I don’t know how I will ever go back to having just one person read every character. I’m not big on audio books because after a little while I tune out the persons voice and stop paying attention, but this kept me invested and attentive.
