So, I wasn't sure how I would feel about this when I started it. The concept was interesting with the cyborgs and such. The one thing that there me off was how long it took to get things going.

There is a lot of talk about the bond between the human females and the cyborgs. I thought it was weird there were no female cyborgs and while this is mentioned, it is never given an explanation. Kind of curious why that is.

Shade is our cyborg and he is bonded to Phoebe. The first half of the book is Shade's awakening and him adapting to the world. It was different than most stories with cybernetic or Android creations which wake up fully working, so that was cool. After a while though, it started to slow down the story a bit.

When we get to the 2nd half of the book we get introduced to the Fighters, a group of cyborgs that have lost their bound ones. Normally this would lead to death, but these cyborgs survived and are considered dangerous and unstable. They believe that cyborgs can live without the bond, although the whole story states that they cannot without going crazy or dying.

This is where the story got interesting for me. It went super fast, but there was cool info being thrown at me and made me wonder which side was right. I enjoyed it.

This is book 1 in a series and I may pick up the next book in the future.

Interesting idea.
But I have an issue with the bond thing. It does not sit very well with me...

The concept of the story was good, but the execution was poor. I didn't like any of the characters except for Wind. The characters lacked any depth, basically they all just annoyed me. Idk. It just wasn't for me.

I enjoy the idea of the story

I made it to Chapter 12 before moving on. Although the overall story is intriguing, I feel like I’m reading a training manual. Which, perhaps is the point, seeing as the MC is training her Cyborg. Sorry, I wanted to like the book, but, I couldn’t get past the reading, to allow myself to fall into the world.

This was an okay read, but nothing special. Surprisingly drawn out considering it's length, and nothing really happened plot-wise. The little bit of interest happened at the end, and was never really concluded. I'm guessing we find out more in the second book? I'm not sure I'm interested enough to continue.
