Such a good book. I loved all the characters and can't wait to read more about them. It made me want to move to the mountains and live away from a city. Can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Baby-hungry, entitled white ladies don't do it for me.

I don't really like the writing style unfortunately. I wanted to give the book a try so I could potentially watch the show, but I think that I will just go ahead and give the show a chance (the drama that was happening in just the first 14% seemed better suited for tv, imo)

Alright so I started watching the show on Netflix, and once I finished both seasons I needed to know what happened so I went to the books. I'm pleased to say I pleasantly surprised by this book.
I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't watched or read, but there are some big differences between the book and the show. Not bad differences, but just different. I like how the characters seem generally the same, they have similar characteristics and personalities. Though the experiences they go through were not the same. Again, not a big deal for me personally because I love the characters. I really enjoy the alternating perspectives and I feel like you get exactly what you need from both sides.
I've already started the second book and can't wait to see what happens! If you've watched the show and are interested in the books, I say check them out. But it isn't needed to understand the characters more, it is more of an added bonus.

A good novel but the ending was too perfect. Mel is a nurse who goes to a remote town because her husband dies. She meets jack, a handsome bar owner. They fall in love and she becomes pregnant.
