Like this knows what it is. And I am here for it lol

Spicy, protective, suspense filled, thriller-ish book? Yes please!

I started reading this from a small blurb from a tiktok that I had seen. I had no other insight on this book, I went in blind and let me tell you, this book did not disappoint. 10/10 would recommend! This book had me laughing, biting my lip and had my brain searching for answers until the very last page. The sexual tension/chemistry and suspense was next level.

So the first half was pretty slow and felt like it dragged a little… But then things started to ramp up for the last half and it got super fucking hot. Shit starts hitting the fan.. the last half saved the book honestly.

It’s told from Claire’s POV, except for the last chapter which is from Mason’s POV(which I loved!). I prefer dual POV, but didn’t hate this.

Excited to read book 2!

Spice, suspense, mystery - did I mention spice? Claire is a very relatable, witty character who decides to put out an ad seeking some spice in her life and ends up connecting with Mason. Mason is darker and possessive and I wasn’t sure what to think about him at first. Their chemistry is great and and the different storylines that appear kept me interested and wanting more.

While the book doesn’t end in a cliffhanger, you are going to want to immediately pick up the next book!

I downloaded this months and months ago after seeing it recommended on a lot book related social media. I had completely forgotten the plot and as to why it first caught my attention, so I essentially went in blind.

Initially, I thought this was a RomCom (which confused me as that is not a genre I enjoy). About halfway through I realised the original reason for the KU download, it’s a mafia romance and I had a period of time last year where I was a little obsessed with them!

As far as plot/romance/smut goes, it’s absolutely fine. Enjoyable enough for me to read whilst I’m sat round the pool on holiday. I definitely liked it enough to download the second.

Mason and Claire are really good MCs. I love a socially awkward, book enthusiast (because I see myself in her!) and Mason is dark, brooding and controlling (which in a book man, yes please!)

I can see that the plot has a lot more to give, I’m looking forward to seeing how it progresses in book 2.

Definitely got better towards the end, but the beginning gave me My Year of rest and relaxation vibes. The "mystery" aspect made it interesting, even though it was predictable.
