Was this a literary masterpiece? Nope. Was it was wonderful and cozy and sweet and the perfect December book? Absolutely!!!

A solid 4.5 stars. True to Fannie Flagg's style A Redbird Christmas is a charming southern tale with colorful characters, small town scenery and a heartwarmomg tale. Such a cozy read for the Christmas season

This is a gentle story about people mending slowly as others reach out to one another in the face of life's cruelty. An old man with a terminal illness, a little girl subjected to abuse/neglect, a broken romance, and more are addressed here. While 90% of the book nicely flows, all of a sudden at the end, it is almost like the author decided this book needed to end in a hurry. In a flurry, she ties up every individual's piece of the story. Over. Done. Really? Could have been made to be a bit more poignant.

This would be a fun little movie. It felt like a Hallmark movie, in a good way. Loved the small town and all the people in it!

This may be the perfect Christmas Book club book

1) It is a fast read. I think I read this book in 90 minutes give or take 30 minutes. If i actually sat down and read it straight through, my guess is 70-75 minutes
2) It's Christmas-y
3) It has a happy ending
4) it has sad parts
5) It's real life without being vulgar and it's hopelessly sappy
