Miles Vorkosigan returns, not just to a book, but to his fantastically won Dendarii Mercenaries. After a brief stint paying his dues in the Barryaran military, Miles is sent off to solve inter-stellar incidents and, as usual, just causes more. But when he chances upon Emperor Gregor Vorbarra, recently escaped from Imperial Security and all set to accidentally start several different kinds of wars by his absence, Miles must find a way to get the erstwhile ruler back into the hands of ImpSec WITHOUT anyone finding out he's gone missing in the first place.

Even if he has to win a war to do it.

But, hey. That's nothing he hasn't done before....

Despite having two very different parts--Miles doing normal military grunt work and then Miles being Admiral Naismith--this book has a remarkably consistent quality. Odd how the frantic action of battle can be just as engrossing the minor politics of settling into a backwoods military instillation.

If liked "The Warrior's Apprentice" and continue to like this book, then congratulations. You're hooked on the Vorkosigan Saga. Now, go buy ALL THE REST OF THE BOOKS, YOU NEED THEM SO BAD.

Miles + Attempting to follow orders doesn't pan out, even after military school. Instead, he once again (in a manner that is mostly not his fault) ends up neck-deep in some tense war-preventing situations and has to puzzle his way out of it.

¡Este me ha durado dos días!
