Compared to the first book I did not enjoy this. Overall the story didn’t feel entirely necessary. Frankly only about 75 pages really felt relevant to the overall story. I’m glad this series is only a duology. I’m not sure I could have handled a third book.

The main character has gotten so unlikable, which makes this really hard to read since its first person POV. She acts like she's the only one who's suffering, or who's lost someone; and she's the only one who can fix anything. She's just so super special. She did get a bit better toward the end, but I really would have loved to be in any other character's head for awhile. It's sad, because I loved the first book so much. I still loved the world, but this was a letdown.

The main character is so annoying. Only liked V and Shanty throughout the book.

Okay I don't give 5's lightly, and this certainly isn't a perfect book. But I read it in one sitting, completely absorbed in the story and the ending ripped my heart out and left me sobbing, which is basically what I look for in a book.
