Marion Lane and the Midnight Murder reminded me of an adult muggle Harry Potter sleuthing to find answers to the suspicious activity happening in the school.

It just didn’t do enough to develop the “magic” system for really ent if it to be believable. There were too many characters and it was all so basic.

An exciting blurb and a recommendation from Stuart Turton on the cover seems promising but honestly this book was just stupid.

A cast of unlovable characters play out a ludicrous plot in an unconvincing subterranean environment set in a so-called historical setting to which no reference is ever made and which has clearly been chosen only for its proximity to World War II.

This book was very slow going. I found it difficult to get into as there were no real connections within the characters.
