As someone who just got married a year ago this was just a bit too sad to read

Takes awhile to get going, and not too much happens overall, but by the end I was bought in on the emotion. Not totally into the love story because it’s a bit too scattered, but TJR definitely pulled at the heartstrings with the depictions of grief and the healing power of human connection in the most difficult moments. Audiobook is really well-read.

For Taylor Jenkins Reid’s first novel this is fantastic. It is written so beautifully. My heart is both empty and full. Ben and Elsie’s love is so enriching to the soul, but the main star is the dynamic between Elsie and Susan. Two of the most real feeling characters ever and you feel for them. Shout out to Julia Whelan, she makes every audiobook experience perfect.

spoilers : just the thought of throwing away ben’s deodorant and shampoo made me sob, the part at the cemetery when she finally feels not totally alone in her grief experience.. SOBBING, the pillow in the trash bag that she originally thought was stinky.. BAWLING, at the end when he said he just wants to spend a few moments looking at his wife… CRYINF AND THROWING UP. my chest hurts and my nose is running
