I had to read bits and pieces of this for my Medieval Literature class. I think it provided some good insight and overview into the world that produced the works we'll be reading later in the semester, but it wasn't all that interesting overall.

I read this for a college class in Anglo-Saxon history. i just loved the book, I remember finding it to be really gripping. It's one of those books I keep meaning to get back to, now decades later.
