If you just read the description of this book you wouldn't realize how much it's about rowing or how much is written from the perspective of a dog. I liked the parts where it was the show Julia on HBO Max

Saw other reviews about how this was not realistic for the times, that personally did not bother me as this is obviously a fiction novel. I loved it. I could not put it down and so enjoyed the strong, female protagonist. There were difficult topics covered and overall I found the story heartwarming and truly enjoyed reading it.

DNF… barely got to chapter 4. Someone else said it seems like this is about a woman who time traveled from modern times to the 60s and that seems accurate. It’s not really believable and the rape scene in Chapter 3 really just turned me off.

Honestly I thought the story was good but the writing style was just really annoying

In a perfect world, I would have had the ability to assign 3.5 stars. Perhaps it’s because this novel followed “Demon Copperhead”??I don’t know. It was fine.
Although Elizabeth Zott is a FORCE, and was a delight to get to know.

A really charming, and at times infuriating, novel about a woman determined not to kowtow to societal expectations of a woman in the 1960s trying to make her way in the world of academic chemistry. I wish Elizabeth Zot really existed.
