This was a really excellent book. The general suspense and emotional grip of the book was excellent, I was hooked into the story almost immediately and couldn't put it down once I'd gotten about half way through. There were plenty of heart-wrenching and nerve-wracking moments, as well as a healthy dose of steamy romantic scenes! I would absolutely recommend this book to others who love to read suspense books that really hook you in. I think it would be a great story to try if you're a lover of romantic novels but haven't read something with suspense and mystery combined before.

“Knowing Vera” is essentially the story of two people connected through series on incidents over the years. On one hand we have Vera Custodio, who was only a little girl when her father committed suicide after allegedly killing a woman name Lillian Spencer. It had been a traumatic event of her life – one that had taken away her voice for over a year and her ‘happily everafter’ forever. On the other hand we have Zach Spencer, a bright athlete whose life is left broken after an accident. Once a ladies’ man and now cripple, Zach has his own share of issues to deal with. And then we go on to find that Lillian Spencer, the lady Vera’s dada allegedly killed, was Zach’s mother! With so much of their past weighing on their shoulder and this new discovery, will Zach and Vera ever find love and happiness with each other?

Rachelle Ayala-has-dun-it AGAIN! If you haven’t read any of her books yet, you have no idea what you are missing out on. And if you have read her books before, especially one from Chance for Love Series, and think that you know what to expect…. Then, well, think again!

Vera is a girl everyone would love to fall in love with. She is sweet and intelligent with a fragile side that makes you wanna take care of her in whatever possible way. We also find out that she is quite a strong girl too. Her experiences make her vary yet she is willing to go as far as it takes her to find the answers she is looking for. Zach on the other hand is not only an eye-candy; he has a heart to match his features. His experiences in life haven’t been all rosy either. When an accident leaves him crippled and takes away his dreams, he doesn’t break down. Instead he re-evaluates life and makes some new dream for him to chase. Bring together these two people and the result is sizzling chemistry! Their characters grow throughout the story and as readers we get to know them practically at a personal level.

One thing that is very consistent about Rachelle Ayala’s novels is her amazing story-telling capability. It reflects in each of her novels as she takes us on a journey with her protagonists who slowly capture our hearts. The way she builds up the mystery is quite good and she manages to maintain the air of curiosity so well that you will not be able to take a guess until she is ready to let you take a guess. Another aspect of Rachelle’s writing is the amazing balance that the author maintains between mystery and romance. Not one aspect gets outshined by the other and that is maintained in this novel too.

If you wanna read a mystery story that curls your toes as well, then this is your book - well after Broken Build. Knowing Vera is a sizzling tale of love and intrigue. Go get your copy now!

Vera has ghosts in her past. When she was 7 years old she watched her dad commit suicide by jumping over the edge of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Zach Spencer has feelings for Vera and he has just recently lost his lower left leg rescuing one of Vera's friends, Maryanne. What Zach doesn't know is that Vera's dad killed Zach's mom and she tries to separate herself from him as she feels to blame.

Yet, all is not as it seems and someone is trying to get Vera to look closer into the past as maybe her dad wasn't guilty after all.

This book truly had me on the edge of my seat wondering how everyone was connected and who was guilty. My loyalty flipped so many times during this book. I loved the relationship between Zach and Vera as you never really knew where everyone stood!

Wow Rachelle Ayala’s fiction novel “Knowing Vera” is an amazing piece of work. Knowing Vera brings a mixture of fiction, drama, and mixes it solidly with murder mystery. Ayala gives a strong young woman the drive to focus on discovering the truth in many facets of her life; whether is love, true happiness and in this case finding the truth about her family and the ties to others that she holds dear to her heart. Vera is this young woman and Ayala gives her a voice and thank goodness the common sense and smarts to navigate through life and face past demons to obtain the truth of who the killers are versus who have been wronged in a past murder that has tainted her life so many years ago.

As a reader, I appreciate the simplicity and straightforward structure Ayala displays within this novel. She did not linger on too much background information it inundate readers and bore them; she gave just enough information to keep readers interesting in the storyline. Also, leaving out just enough information to keep the mystery alive.

When you are forced to reevaluate your family, friends and those you have trusted so long to determine “Do I really know this person, will they harm me” you will then know how Vera felt about all the characters placed in her path (Taytay, Zack, Louie, Cliff). Rachelle Ayala produced an amazing dramatic fiction in “Knowing Vera.” This novel is a quick read that will give you its worth in suspense, drama and romance.

I truly enjoyed reading this book. It is more of an adventure story than a romance in my opinion, although romance is one of the main storylines through the book. I couldn't put this book down. I never knew what was going to happen, who the bad guy was, or who Vera could trust.

Let me tell you a bit about the story, without giving too much away. Vera witnessed something terrible when she was a child. This led her to never truly trusting anyone enough to let go and fall in love. Vera starts to get strange letters and text messages referring to the horrible experience from her childhood. This leads her to an adventure with so many twists and turns that she can never quite figure out who to trust and who not to. Is she truly falling for Zach? Should she tell him her secret? Who is sending these messages to her? These questions and more are expertly answered in this incredibly written story. You will go on a journey with Vera from California to Australia as she searches for the answers, tries to avoid danger, and has a few steamy encounters.

The ending has good closure on all the events throughout the book. There are no questions left unanswered, which I find refreshing. I dislike reading a book and then getting to the end with more questions than answers. The book is part of a series but each book can be read as a stand alone. I am going to read the other books now that I know how good the writing is by this author.

I recommend this book to anyone that loves a good mystery as well as romance lovers. It is for adults, as there are a few steamy sex scenes.

I really enjoyed Knowing Vera. The very beginning had me hooked, which is hard to do. A lot of books take at least four or five chapters to get into, but not this one! You find out a pretty deep secret at the beginning.
Not only is it a good adventure story, it is also a love story. And I think there is a great balance of both. I also love how even though Knowing Vera is part of a collection, you can still read this as a stand-alone book. Now that I know how good of an author Rachelle Ayala is, I will definitely be reading the first two in this series very soon! I definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for a pretty quick read that has a great story to it. There are some steamy scenes in it, just to warn you though – which are really written very well!

Disclosure: I did receive the book for free in return for my review. All opinions are 100% my own!
