I love Gabor Mate’s writing! This is deeply reflective book about psychological issue that is deeply related how we need to regulate big emotion, that is surprisingly not surprised can cause physical pain.

Too psychological for me - I wanted practical advice and felt it was a slow dense read.

an interesting read about trauma and how our physical health is intimately related to our past experiences and mental wellbeing. I don’t know if I could have gotten through the print edition, the audiobook was A LOT. at times I found myself questioning things he would say, I think I’m going to have to spend some time on pubmed because I’m very intrigued

Informative but didn’t really tell me anything new or world changing. I get what the author was trying to say about positive worldview being healing and needing to be considered in terms of medical healing, but it often came across as “believe your way out of chronic illness” which is not true.
The occasional accent from the audiobook reader were distracting and I’m unclear if they were offensive or not??
