A patriotic father asks his artist son to paint a portrait of the 'Leader' (Saddam) but the son refuses to paint someone who is destroying his homeland. Scattered Crumbs explores how a dictatorship divides families and loyalties...scattering them.

This 126 page length look at the impact of the Iran-Iraq war for civilians at home is highly recommended.

There are scenes that will shock the reader with its graphic nature. Others are heart breaking.

I liked how the author shows how the women coped whilst men were drafted to the Iran-Iraq war. But he also revealed the scary nature of saddam's regime as more and more less abled men were forced to go to war. The consequences of not agreeing with the war is also shown.

An intriguing little book. Gives a quick glance at how horrible Saddam Hussein really was to his people.

I'm the name of the perfect woman,
And the body of the perfect woman,
And the fabric... all translucent.
People around me distant,
Dark is my hand."
