От прочтения возникает ощущение, что ты сам вязнешь в песке. Кажется в книге много символизма. Я смогла уловить только некоторую часть так что с удовольствием бы перечитала книгу еще раз спустя какое-то время

Thought-provoking stuff that would have been served better by an extra 25-ish pages of cuts.

Read it a long time ago in Polish, now rereading it in English. One day I'll read it in Japanese :)

I really enjoy the story - it has this air of uneasiness, comparable only to Junji Ito work, but without resorting to any unnatural matters. Nothing out of ordinary happens in that book, but at the same time, the puzzle presented by the author is very tasty and mysterious. With both Polish and English translations I've experienced the same thing - the style of writing felt very [a:William Gibson|9226|William Gibson|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/authors/1373826214p2/9226.jpg] like. Can't exactly put my finger on which property of the text makes me feel that, but it's very much Gibson - just not in cyberpunk flavour.

it gets under your skin. i like the way abé eroticizes the repulsive and vice versa until that boundary dissolves. there are some taxing and monotonous stretches but you get what he's doing there

Not a nice time!! Left reading this frustrated and spinning, which ultimately reflected what Kōbō Abe wrote. Almost like a claustrophobic play once inside the dunes.
