I think this book was the first of its kind in that it took a real happening and converted it into a fictional prose-like story.

Add to that there will probably never be a book like this of its kind, written to be in such a way that the world it took us through was so immersive in a way that no other book ever has ever been able to accomplish something similar--if there is, I havent read it.

And similarly the characters are just as innovative as the style. They tell the story of two killers and yet, the author reveals characteristics that are just as endearing and sympathetic as they are frightening and repulsive, creating contradictory thoughts and opinions about said characters.

In cold Blood receives it's acclaim simply for the way it was written at a time when a concept like this had probably never been done before--and if it had, then nothing as beautiful and as intriguing or riveting as this one.

Excellent and the first true crime book if I recall correctly. Masterpiece that holds back nothing.
