Read it in a day. The twists hit you right when they should and it’s a surprisingly sentimental story in the end.

Well this was a wild ride. This whole book felt like one big transphobic, misogynistic joke being told by some wannabe edge lord trying to be deep.

My straight white guy trait is really liking Chuck Palanhuik. His prose is so chewy, and he has a certain nihilistic realism I enjoy. However he also has an edginess that is a bit cringe and this is definitely not the best trans rep out there. Regardless this book scratched a very specific itch, 90s The Substance

I really enjoyed this book and knew from page one that I was in for a wild ride. It is a dark book but I loved the humor within it.

Wow, what an insane book. I started and stopped this book multiple times and it still sucked me back in every time I'd pick it up again. There's too many twists to get bored. I didn't pay enough attention to what story line/time slot I was in at any given time which made the book more challenging to read at times. But overall, great book.

Exhausting and cringe worthy. I was giving a few Chuck Palahniuk books as a gift and this was the first one I read. I like the movie Fight Club so I was excited, but after reading this I'm worried that every page is just going to be attempts at shocking me. It reminded me of an insecure teenager looking for attention on every page.

I’ll be up front: I started reading this book because of Panic! at the Disco. I heard about it on Genius years ago while looking at the lyrics for one of their songs, and I’ve been interested in it ever since.

I read Fight Club a month or two afo and wasn’t the biggest fan, but it’s by the same writer so it reminded me of this book. After maybe over a decade I finally decided to read it, and I gotta say, I was really disappointed.

The most obvious and glaring issue is just how bad it is about trans women. Maybe it was because of the period of time it was written in, but it was very offputting. I also wasn’t a fan of most of the ‘twists’. I realize it was supposed to be surreal, but they felt more contrived than otherworldly.
