A Marvelous Light was a mixed bag for me.

This book felt so slow. It took me days and days and days to get through the first ~65%, and then less than 24 hours to read the last third. I wanted to love this book so much, but the whole stint at Edwin’s family home felt like it took an age to read.

I really enjoyed the romance aspect of the book, and the final third was quite interesting. That being said, it wasn’t enough to save the book for me. If I do read the rest of this series, it will be from the library. 3.5 stars

I love this book as an entrance to the magical world that these characters live in
And though I adore this book and characters it’s a little difficult to understand certain aspects of it on first read
It was significantly more enjoyable on a second read

Absolutely adored this book. The way the author describes how Edwin and Robin see each other, as well as the way magic works in this world, was so brilliant and lovely. I also really enjoyed mystery plot line and how that was interwoven into the story.
A couple things that I think let it down and the reason it didn’t quite make it to 5⭐️ is because I think the world building was a bit clunky at the start and so it took me a while to get into it, and then also unfortunately the ending felt rushed, a bit unsatisfying and didn’t make complete sense to me.
It was an absolutely gorgeous story that was so well written, but just book ended by a slightly disappointing start and finish. I still think it is well worth the read, I love Edwin and Robin with my whole heart🫶
