ככ אהבתי שהתרגשתי רק מהדיבורים שלהם, שהפלירטוטם של רוגן גרמו לי להסמיק, שהייתי צריכה לסגור את הספר בצווחה ולחבק אותו כשהם בטעות נגעו.
אני ככ אוהבת שספר מוציא ממני רגשות כאלה כי אז אני לחלוטין יודעת שהוא עבד עליי.
הדמויות משנה בסיפור היו כתובות פשוט מעולה, לא הרגשתי שיש קטעים מיותרים או חורים בעלילה. קראתי אותו בלי רצון להפסיק והאמת שאני מאושרת שיש עוד 5.5 ספרים בסדרה.
אז בלי יותר מידי חפירה, עפתי, אבל באמת!!!!
ספר בין המומלצים שקראתי לאחרונה ולחלוטין נכנס לספרי 5 כוכבים של 2023 בשבילי!!

I kept seeing this series in other people's lists and I shouldn't have waited so long. Action + urban and current + magic? Yes please
As graphic audio recordings go, this one is very good. I could distinguish all the voices, not like the recordings where all the women sound the same. I could also tell the difference between Nevada's internal dialog and her outside voice, very important when there's so many inner thoughts. Truly, Nevada talking to herself is one of the biggest pluses of the story.
I have read the paper copy so many times that I could practically recite the lines with the actors. So I noticed the small bits that were left out and the things that were changed to update the story. All the adjustments made for a better recording.
I will be looking for the GA version of the next book. This is a fun way to revisit the novels.

Good beach read, tons of action, which can be hard to follow sometimes. Talk about a slow burn romance!
Great opening to a new series. Nevada has Kate's practicality and protective instincts without feeling derivative. Loved Mad Rogan! Can't wait to read the next one.
This book stood out because I read it while still following the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. The husband-wife duo seemed to write a book that made me like the main leads again -- even if I didn't fall in love with them the way I did with Kate & Curran and still haven't!

I only recently discovered Ilona Andrews’ Kate Daniels novels and found myself an instant fan. I’d actually read and enjoyed her Novels of the Edge series, but had not experienced that level of fandom that had me putting this author on my automatic buy list. And I wasn’t expecting to when I started Book 1 of her new Hidden Legacy series, Burn for Me. When it comes to authors and series, I tend to give my heart to one series, no matter how much I may enjoy others. And I thought that, for Ilona Andrews, Kate Daniels was it in my book.
How wrong I was! By Chapter 1, I was absolutely hooked by the main character, Nevada Baylor, who has got a lot stacked against her, but who is a scrapper and a survivor. She loves her family and is quite clearly willing to die for them; because they’ve fallen on hard times, she’s made a habit of putting their needs before her own. So you’d think she’d be prime for a little temptation when über rich, über powerful, and über hot Connor “Mad” Rogan comes into her life with all the subtlety of a steam roller.
Tempted though she might be, Neva is dead set against going down that particular road. She is feisty and not just for the sake of being contrary. She’s got an unwavering moral compass and the courage to back it up. This proves terribly inconvenient for just about all the other characters in this novel, but it also makes her the heart and soul of the book. In the end, it’s what has her saving everyone’s butts. Not that she’s perfect, mind you. She’s got a lot of pride and a shot of stubbornness to boot, and she is a bit on the uptight side.
Then there’s Mad Rogan. He’s rich (yay for billionaires!), a war hero (yay for ex-military guys!), and is a Prime known the world over for his terrifying magical abilities (yay for magic-wielders!), and when you add a good dose of ab-licious hotness to that, well, is it any wonder I thought him instant book boyfriend material? Plus, he’s pretty much a high-functioning sociopath, and I’ll admit I have a soft spot for those. (Is it any wonder I’m a huge fan of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock Holmes for the BBC or Edward AKA Death from Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series?) But he’s on the side of the angels, so as a reader, I love that he’s our sociopath. And we learn that what he finds in Neva is a kind of antidote to his apathy over the well-being of the world at large.
Apart from seriously compelling characters I would like to see a lot, lot more of, though, there’s the writing. Andrews never fails to deliver on intrigue and adrenaline, and if anything, the author punches it up a level for this series, even beyond what we see in the Kate Daniels novels. Yes, you’ve got a Nero-type bad guy, but beyond that, there’s a deeper conspiracy to disrupt the world order which is onion-like in its multiple layers of mystery.
And of course, for more action-oriented readers, you’ve got a hero and villain who are very good at making things go boom. All this action and intrigue is woven around Andrews’ skillful world building, which really makes this alternate reality (and the main character’s home town of Houston, Texas) come alive. I cannot wait for Book 2, White Hot, to come out in October of this year.
