As a 'classic' I felt a responsibility to read this and rate this a 4/5, but I just didn't enjoy it. It's well written, and undoubtedly clever. However it's also a punishing dreary tale which is unrelenting in its misery and reminders of the inequality and hopelessness of life! I just don't need it, but some might!
