Enjoyed the themes more than the writing style. An important message about the fascination with young, pretty, dead women; how theyβre remembered for all the wrong reasons; how they lose their identities after their murders. Not sure how I felt about including Elizabeth Short... did it prove the point or exploit her more??

Excerpts from a Film (1942-1987) is a short story from one of my favorite wordsmiths A.C. Wise.
Itβs a lovely but disturbing, real and yet metaphorical tale of old Hollywood, when young girls flocked to town with dreams of stardom and immortality.
There is Mary, a young woman destined to be a star but haunted by the ghosts of so many murdered women. Is there a serial killer? Is it the sleazy producer George, haunted and obsessed by Mary?
A.C. Wise manages to blow me away yet again with her beautiful words.
