Hmm so many cliffhangers. Feel this should all have been published as one book.
3.5 for sure.
I was debating with his one, because I still really liked it but rating it was confusing for a few reasons.
These are "novella" shorts. The story the authors are telling is broken up into separate parts, so immediately this broke a rule of writing:
This story does not have a beginning, middle, and end.
Because this story IS the middle.
It works on the one hand, because the characters don't remember who they are so it's almost like starting with a fresh story. Except, they learn things. And WE know things. So, it isn't the same.
I guess what I'm saying is I liked this, but for me it was just a continuation of part one so I can't rate it properly. This was just the middle to the story. The next part will just be the end. I'll let you know in the review of part three what I'd rate this if it were one book together, but that is why I'm saying it's hard to rate these.
Because it isn't one book together. It's separate parts that could have been meshed together and they could have written one awesome story. I really liked part one. This one just didn't have the same intensity. Maybe it's because it was the middle and I knew so much already that when they threw in random ideas, I got lost and confused as to what happened in the beginning of this story.
Because that was the first thing I did before writing this. I went back to see what the heck happened in the beginning and realized there was no real beginning. This was the middle and it doesn't feel "good" to me as a reader to rate a piece of a story and not the whole. We've all read amazing books with parts we didn't enjoy. You wouldn't rate a book 2 stars just because of that scene that draaaaged forever in the middle.
That is the issue with this, though. Because this is the middle and the next part is the end it's hard to rate them for their overall story. There wasn't anything to go by. These were just the next scenes that flowed from the first part.
I'm not sure if any of this makes sense. I just want you to know I liked this, but it wasn't one cohesive storyline, so I found it difficult for me to wrap me head around.
All I can say is, if it were one book so far, I probably would keep it at a 4. I like it, but I have to admit I'm not a fan of the breaking the story apart into novellas.
I also have to say it does a disservice to this story. I feel like I'm reading a well-written fan-fiction on Wattpad, waiting for the next update. There isn't a clear direction where anything is going and it all mushes together in my head.
Colleen does an amazing job with her storylines in her novels. If this were a novel and not a series of novellas, I have no doubt this would have been soooooo much better. You get what I mean???
But I still like this, guys. A LOT. It's unlike anything I've ever read.

A leitura demorou a me prender, mas depois fui me apegando aos personagens gradualmente.
Você começa o livro se perguntando "o que tá acontecendo", e quando termina parece que tá no começo.
Espero que o desfecho da trilogia seja satisfatório.

They have done it again. Hate that I have to wait for part 3 but this is one the best books I have ever read. No matter I thought was going to happen after reading part 1 part 2 sends me in a completely different direction. Now I am left with more twist and turns and theories to keep me awake for weeks, but I love it!
I liked part 2. I did. But why on Earth was this not released as one book? I can't imagine finishing this and having to wait 8 months to read the next book! I would have forgotten everything. (LOL. Just like Charlie and Silas.)
