An interesting legal thriller/mystery without any courtroom fireworks, and with some unnecessary plot details, but still thought-provoking nonetheless.

So very slow moving. There is little to no action and the action there is (at the beginning) is grotesquely graphic or (at the end) wildly unsatisfying. I had high hopes for this as it made a lot of “great thriller” lists. It was far too lengthy and there wasn’t even that much “there” there.

This is a kind of who done it in which you don’t find out who done it so that is a little frustrating. It also is a hard read on many levels as it deals with incest, misogyny and assault. There are many different narrators and if that throws you then this is not the book for you. One of the narrators you get to know fairly well but don’t necessarily end up liking while the other ones you kind of want to know a little more. In all - it was a gripping tale (but not a thriller) that leaves you slightly unsatisfied
