Lovely story! This is the second series I’ve listened to by Ms. Archer, the first being The Ministry of Curiosities.

Both are very realistic, this being post-WWI 1920s London, with a splash of magical/supernatural. Increasingly detailed worlds, creative plots, and well rounded worlds seem to be a trademark of her books. The plot does seem to lag in spots but I didn’t mind as I was entertained by character interactions.

As an audiobook, I need to rave about the narrator, Marian Hussy! She did an excellent job, bringing each character to life and bringing forth their personality.  I will happily listening to more of Ms. Archer’s books in the future!

Not a bad little story - it had an interesting twist and I liked the way the main character got drawn into the detective plot.
However, her personality changed a LOT over the course of the book - more than expected since its rather short.
there so many long, meaningful glances between the two MCs and I had hoped this would not turn into a romance of any sort.
I wish the other characters would have had more page time since they were so intriguing.
A few minor content warnings but all were mentioned more than once (none in detail though!)
All in all, a cute story & I plan to read the next when it comes out.
