I liked this book. As usual, Tey has created a wonderful world with substantial complex characters. In terms of plot, this is not your typical murder mystery because the death occurs late in the book. Tey is a real find as an author. She's entertaining and the books are easy enough for the beach or a plane. They are also chock full of great vocabulary (parvenu, for example, when was the last time you read that?) and interesting personalities. The lack of a formula makes each book something to discover. Highly recommended to exercise your reading muscles.

A very fine and chilling book. I love it so much, but the ending is so awful!
