I'd like to give credit to my teacher, Mr. H. for playing the audio version of this book for our class and scaring the shit out of me back in the day. This short tale left me with a visual that continues to disturb me even as I type this. As others have said, be careful what you wish for..it might come calling.

This was my 40th book finished in 2025.

I was definitely intrigued with this story, and followed it keenly. I really liked what happened with the first wish.
Unfortunately the ending was very abrupt and was not what I was expecting. It's a shame really, it had a lot of potential, and could have been written a little better.

Brilliant short story. It really makes you think about being careful what you wish for

I read this short story as a part of my American Lit. class, and it reminded me a lot of Edgar Allen Poe and the Tell-Tale Heart.

I gave it a three out of five star rating because I partially enjoyed reading it, but I would not read it again or recommend it to a friend.

I do think it is important to read classic stories like this to understand the underlying themes, even if you don't plan on reading it again or falling in love with the plot/characters. You might like this if you like other classics, you should definitely give it a try!

I haven’t read this since grade school and I forgot how good it was. The pace of the narrative was exactly what I was hoping for based off of what I remembered. This might be the beginning of a dive back into the horror short stories I read in school

The Monkey's Paw is a seminal short horror story and on par with Poe's best when it comes to impact and influence (see the Simpsons' take on the classic tale). The story is briskly written and has a brilliantly simple plot. Highly recommended.

Slay. I was expecting a little more, but this was still perfectly enjoyable.
