I loved getting to see the thoughts behind Aspen. I have loved him from the start, and wanted to know what he was thinking and his prospective. I did feel like he was a little pushy toward America and hard on Maxon, but I did love how he accepted fault. Great background information!

This was my least favorite installment of The Selection series thus far. It’s still a solid novella and definitely has its place in the series; overall though I don’t find Aspen’s character compelling. This novella was told from his point of view, and let me tell you it gave me the ick. He constantly calls America “his girl” even though they’re not together. Even though he dumped her. It’s just gross. Furthermore, the novella starts with Marlee and Woodwork being beaten, yet Aspen continues to behave the way he does knowing that same punishment would be coming his way if they were caught? What kind of protection is that?
Needless to say, I’m not a fan of Aspen. Average book, sub-average character.

average read.
felt like aspen's pov was too unnecessary except for probably like one scene.
i hope she introduces multiple povs in the following books

I loved the telling of this story. It made me appreciate Aspen more. I would be happy with America ending up with either Aspen or Maxon but I think I’m still leaning more towards Maxon. I feel like together they could make a lot of needed change in there country.

I really did enjoy this, but I felt like it basically repeated everything I knew from the other book, just from a different perspective.

"because Maxon stood between me and that love, I didn’t
think there was anything he could say or do that would make
me consider him a decent person."
Aspen is annoying to say the least. I'm not exaggerating.
It's so annoying how he's so fixated on America and just can't accept that she's moved on - I mean HELLO you were the one who told her to go in the first place!!
I hate how he just thinks of Maxon as dirt trash and nothing else... just coz he's the one that has America's attention.
But still, it was nice getting his pov on things, he still tries really hard to win her heart which is sweet... and despite everything I dislike about him I really want him to get his own HEA - maybe with Lucy?? They seemed sweet together... idk?
Alsoooo... is the stable man that Aspen keeps meeting Woodwork?? It makes sense, right??? Coz maxon told America he'd be in the stables disguised... and Aspen knew he'd seen him before...
