As we all know, poetry is not something that everyone agrees about it on the same page. This book was on off my to read list for a while until it fell into my hands. First I thought it will be a similar experience to what I had with Rupi Kaur (which wasn’t a pleasant one) but this book did surprise me positively. And even tho it’s not a Neruda or any classic poetry author, I found it lovely to read through and relate to many of the lines. 3 out of 5 stars from me.

when the only pull quote or endorsement that they could get to put on the cover was from the chainsmokers, I knew I was in danger. absolutely no substance at all god bless. I was nervous when I saw how long it is (250 pages is a LOT for a book of modern poetry) and then I read it faster than I've ever finished a book of poetry before because there was nothing to grapple with. no meat.
it's giving 2014 young teenager poetry on deviantART. and I say that with great authority, as a teenager who was writing poetry on deviantART in 2014.
it's not offensive, it just feels juvenile, unfinished, and repetitive. as i read pillow thoughts i reread all of crush by siken to keep my brain active and alert. and to remember what it's like to read poetry that asks something of you, the reader.

There were a few lines that were perfect. But most of it just reminded me of tumblr in 2014.
