Felt like it took me forever to get through this. Wasn’t my favorite. Thought it was going to be more thrilling and fast.

Listened to the audiobook

Tessa is a police detective separated from her husband, her father hunted down and captured serial killer Father Silence years ago. Father Silence is executed - the next day Tessa's parents are murdered, her daughter is kidnapped, and others involved in the case of Father Silence start dying.

I enjoyed this story up to a certain point. There was just SO much going on. Aside from the case that's being pursued, there's a supernatural aspect, flashbacks (including a 11th-hour tacked on "twist" that really doesn't add a ton to the story), lots of side stories, religious side quests, loose ends, and an ultimate villian we barely even meet. The beginning is pretty creepy but ultimately my interest in everything going on trailed off.
