This reminded me of an episode of "Criminal Minds." It was very fast-paced and engaging, but there's nothing new or earth-shattering here.

The story had so much potential, but it was convoluted by far too many characters and some major pacing struggles.
Sure it's a fast-paced crime drama--definitely not horror--but it's 2024, how are we still allowing authors to use DID as a plot twist? (Don't worry, its not the main one...but then again that makes it even cheaper, huh?) It's a mess of tropes and plotlines, but I must admit it was a good audiobook to have on in the background. But yeah, horrific depiction of mental illness and addictions.

2.5/5. I found this hard to get into because of the slow start and then even when it picked up I just didn’t find it that interesting. Probably because I didn’t really like any of the characters except for Danny and Eliza.

I could not put this book down. This story kicked off right away and did not stop. There were constantly different things that I was learning and keeping me on the edge of my seat. Not to mention the anxiety and unease this book made me feel. The author had an amazing way of creating eerie characters and writing dialogue that made you shiver.
Although at the end it did seem like there was almost a little too much in the way of details, making some sub-plots feel unnecessary or unresolved. But, regardless, I found myself getting lost in this story, unable to put it down. I'd highly recommend it for a quick thriller/horror read.
