Funny just like the first book in this series. Most of the comic strips are about the author teasing his children and having fun with them. Loved it.

Guy Delisle is back with more short cartoon stories that show how awful a parent he is (often because he overexplains all the terrible things that could happen to his kids in conversations with his kids). Funny, but nothing like his travel stuff --- I was strongly reminded of the gag cartoon paperbacks of the 70's and 80's.

This is a trimmed down version of my review, to view the full review visit The Book Ramble.

Delisle art style is sort of like a comic strip, which makes it easy to read, and re-read like any classic newspaper comic strip. It's easily digestible and easily shared. This is a huge part of why I love Delisle work because it's really a great style for just about any reader. He also has a good sense of movement in his work, which I guess comes from his work in cartoons.

This book is vignettes about his family, each one only a few pages. These vignettes display his sense of humor, his style, and his timing really well. I love them because they are cute, short, and sweet. All of the vignettes got smiles or chuckles from me. His family stories have a sense of continuity if you've read his previous work, which is great because you get a sense of them as people with personalities.

I don't have a lot to say about this book, except that is is excellent. Cute, short, sweet, and funny it emcompasses a lot of the fantastic qualities of graphic novels and comic strips in one book. It's a book I recommend from an author and artist I highly recommend.

If you have read any of Guy's travel books, you will see a different side of him here, where he, as the stay at home dad, takes care of his kids as he sees fit. His same sense of humor is here, little short cartoons of his daughter's and his son's lives.

And example of the type of slice of life would be him going to parent night, and seeing his daughters exercise book, and sketching in it, instead of paying attention to what the teacher was saying.

I love his books when living in different countries. This is more every day things.

Even better than the original, Delisle comforts those of us helicopter-averse, imperfect, shamefully human parents of the world with his wonderful wit and honesty. Love those conversations with his kids, they are eerily similar to my own (Me to my 7-year-old: "Tanning? Why would you want to go tanning? We are super fair-skinned! Tanning will give you skin cancer and then you'll DIE!"). Just love this series.

I'm not sure about the "laugh out loud" characterization of these vignettes. Some were mildly amusing, some were sort of off-putting, and some were just boring. I wouldn't have bothered to finish this book if it weren't such a quick read.
