Loved the humor and light hearted nature of this book. I was happy that I watch the tv series beforehand because it made me love it even more! However I really didn’t like how Simon talked about Daphne like she was his property… I know that’s how it was like back in the day but I still didn’t like it very much. Same thing goes for when Daphne forced herself on Simon and forced his consent for an action he didn’t want to do. I know it’s later explained that that wasn’t her intention but still that didn’t sit right for me.

If you can put aside the incredibly problematic aspects of this book (which… you can’t) then I would’ve really loved it. There were so many ‘let me grab my highlighter’ moments and the romance was so lovable, and daphne and all of the bridgertons are just the best. It felt a little rushed at times and it almost felt like the tv series felt like it lasted longer. But the really problematic issue lies in Daphne’s decision, and it’s even worse than in the show because Simon is also drunk. However I will be continuing on and I loved the second season so much so I feel like I will really love the second book.

A delightfully fun summer read. Certainly full of some problematic behaviors that I cannot condone, but everyone needs a guilty pleasure.
