Such a wholesome fantasy novel. I love when the meaning of the title is a secret until it reveals everything. The plot is so good and the point of view lends itself to create such dynamic characters. There are so many different influences woven into each character and their decisions: east vs west, human vs spirit, harm vs heal, etc. I love how powerful music and spirits are on the island of Cadence. I also didn’t realize it’s a series until I finished, and I’m so excited to read the next.

Sorry mom… I couldnt do it. I could NOT get into it. It’s not the book… it’s me. I’m the problem. Fantasy is just not for me anymore? Not sure when I got so boring.

Started off a little slow but I grew to really love the characters. The magic system was unique and interesting, and there were a few moments of genuine heartfelt emotion for me.

This doesn't actually count as 'cozy fantasy' but it's what I want from the genre - something that feels pastoral and tender, with stakes that need creative means. Adore the characters, and excited to see how book 2 resolves this.

Sooo this took me a bit of time to finish, but it's not because I didn't like it. Last week was chaos. However, it is in fact a little slow-paced, and slow-paced books tend to take me longer to read.

This book is beautiful. I loved the setting, the mystery, the characters ane how they are all connected in some way. Just read two reviews saying how atmospheric it is and I think that's the perfect adjective.
Rebecca Ross's writing is perfect, as always.
