“Perhaps we were friends first and lovers second.
But then perhaps this is what lovers are.”

The last chapter is the saving grace of the book but the first two parts were WILD. I mean honestly, undiagnosed bipolar for real. Waaay too over romanticized as Italians are want to do?

After already watching the film I knew what to expect from this book. Still, it was beautifully written, emotive, artistic and descriptive - a different writing style to what I am used to reading.

Loved the movie so much that I wanted to experience the book as well. A different perspective entirely, since we learn more much from Elio's thoughts.
