I really liked the second book. The setting of the story was super interesting. Loved the reunion between Eli and Lizbeth and that she is so blind to him having an interest in her. Solid storyline and great execution.

I love this book series so much. Lizbeth Rose is a cool enough character, but what I really love is the world, the alternate history.

The action in this one is set in "Dixie," which is a version of the south which is racist, racially segregated, and sexist - basically a throwback to the days of segregation. Pretty much all of the action and work done to build a network to take down the tyrannical leaders is done... by white people. It's not a good look.

Ok this one was better but maybe more because I’m a Southerner and most of it took place in what was Louisiana. But seriously this girl is bad luck if both of her crews die within the first chapter and somehow she always lives. And how is this girl so hardened the emotions she chooses not to feel anything? It kinda reminds me of old movies where they do what they have to and the movie ends with nothing really resolved.

I'd been looking forward to a second book in this series, and this one didn't disappoint. Unlike the first book, most of this story takes place in one town, allowing us to get to know the area with some depth. It was also good to see Eli again and watch how he and Lizbeth work together to fulfill their respective missions. I also like the added map to the book, which helped me keep my bearings.

This may very well be my favorite Charlaine Harris series, although the Lily Bard series runs a close second.

Another delightfully gruesome installment

Charlaine Harris has always been an author that can easily suck me into her world and the Gunnie Rose series is no different. This second installment was very enjoyable in that it continued to build the world but also featured great action and mystery. I could never quite tell where it was going even until the end. Looking forward to reading the third book!

The second installment in Charlaine Harris's new series features gunslingers, magic, a different America and enemies at every turn. Transporting a mysterious box across statelines with a new crew Gunner find herself in an unknown place, with no idea to trust and someone she thought she would never see again by her side. It's unique and pretty darn cool and I really enjoyed every minute even though I have not read the first one. I did not find it hard to follow and caught up before I even knew it and feel pretty invested in these kick a.. characters! I cannot wait for more Gunnie Rose and her awesome gunslinger ways!

I was disappointed in this book after reading the first in this series. The story line starts out with a lot going on at once but the rest of the book kind of drug on for me and was hard to get through.
