Was fun. Do not remember a lot of what I have read. (It also has been a while since read.) Still like the character, was funny for time to time, and characters had depth.

It was ok

The book just felt rushed. Everything about it just didn’t feel like it had been drawn out and built up like they normally do. I mean Ethan put Vada in his bed on the first night. It just didn’t hold up very well.

** May contain spoilers **

This is my first Kennedy Fox read and I can’t really see myself reading from them in the future. It took me days to get through it when I’d normally finish a less than 300 page book in a few hours. I see their stuff everywhere so I had high hopes and this read really didn’t work for me.

I was eye rolling right from the beginning, the first interaction between the MCs felt super forced and the whole scene was trying way to hard to be funny. Also, trying to sell the MMC as a bad-boy is silly honestly, I didn’t read anything that would make me characterize him as that. He’s a heartbroken widower who makes pottery for a living. Giving someone a piercing doesn’t make them a “bad-boy”. I’d align him with more of a class clown persona.

The insta-connection didn’t work, the MMC Ethan developing such strong feelings for Vada after a handful of non-meaningful interactions where they both have negative preconceived notions about each other makes absolutely no sense. One scene were they had a semi-deep conversation would’ve justified his feelings a little bit. But still if you’re selling a heartbreaking backstory that a main character hasn’t been able to get over in 5 years - insta doesn’t work period.

To make matters worse the climax was absolutely and utterly ridiculous. Vada just believes a rumor from a random stranger in a grocery store, immediately leaves Charleston and ignores Ethan for a year, all while he still pining for her and actively trying to get her back- a person he’s only known for a week. Stop it! Maybe I’d be on board if was a few weeks, even a month or two BUT A YEAR of being ignored and he’s still there waiting for her, nope I don’t buy it. I skimmed the last 30%. I have no problem suspending reality while reading but this was just silly by the end.

On a more positive side I did think Ethan was likable. The smut scenes were done super well done. Some of the jokes while the two MCs bantered brought a smile to my face. Unfortunately I’m definitely not going to be reading the rest of the series as I originally intended and I’d really have to hear amazing things to pick up another book by this duo.

Review
Kennedy Fox is a new to me author and I can not wait to read more of their work.

This book is hot, steamy, heartbreaking, funny, romantic and just gorgeous. I loved Ethan, his story was just beautiful.

The characters are really well developed and I fell in love with them and was really rooting for them to get a happy ending.

I can't wait to read Book 2 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Nothing against the author - I just didn't particularly enjoy all the inappropriate sexual jokes from the get-go. I'd run for the hills if a man I just met, who owns the house where I'm supposed to be staying  spoke to me like that... That doesn't scream 'safety' or even 'common sense' to me. I do understand the concept "suspension of disbelief" but this was too much for me.

This was such a great steamy fast paced romance. The sex scenes we're off the charts and the chemistry between Vada and Ethan was perfect. I fell hard for Ethan 😍
